The opening ceremony at the Aghosh UK Birmingham office brought together notable dignitaries from Pakistan and the United Kingdom, including Abdus Shakoor, Vice President of Alkhidmat Foundation Pakistan; Tahir Ali MP; Waqas Anjum Jafri, Secretary General of Alkhidmat Foundation Pakistan; Dr. Adeel Riaz, Chairman of Aghosh UK; Retired Commodore Mohsin Aziz, Head of the Orphans Project – AJK; along with Muhammad Ghalib, Abid Husain, and Fahim Kayani of Aghosh UK.
Abid Khawajah, CEO of Aghosh UK, warmly welcomed the guests and emphasised that the new office is not merely an expansion of space—but it represents an even deeper commitment to humanity, to serving those in need, and to support people to get access to the essentials of life. “This is a centre of hope, compassion, and action,” he said. “It will enable us to better serve those who need us the most—especially orphans and families living through crisis.”
Dr. Adeel Riaz, Chairman of Aghosh UK, presented the Aghosh UK 2024 Impact Report, which highlights the organisation’s tireless humanitarian efforts. The report showcased key achievements in orphan sponsorship, education, WASH (Water, Sanitation, and Hygiene), and healthcare support—made possible through the generosity of donors and the dedication of volunteers.
Dr. Riaz gave special attention to Aghosh UK’s work in Gaza, where the organisation—through partnerships with global relief agencies—has provided critical aid to the people of Gaza. He spoke movingly about the recent rehabilitation of the Hurriyah Clinic, which will serve thousands of patients in the besieged region.
“This is not just aid,” Dr. Riaz said. “It’s dignity, healing, and the restoration of hope in places the world too often forgets.”
He also briefed guests on the comprehensive work of Alkhidmat Foundation Pakistan, which operates across eight humanitarian sectors—from clean water and education to disaster relief and orphan care—positively impacting millions of lives across Pakistan.
The event was more than just an office inauguration; it was a call to compassion. Speakers and attendees shared a collective message: that every child deserves care, every family deserves dignity, and every life matters—regardless of borders.
