In a significant step toward expanding its humanitarian mission, Aghosh UK inaugurated its new office in Birmingham, reaffirming its commitment to serve orphans, vulnerable families, and communities affected by poverty, conflict, and natural disasters in Pakistan and beyond.

Aghosh UK’s work covers many areas including:

The opening ceremony at the Aghosh UK Birmingham office brought together notable dignitaries from Pakistan and the United Kingdom, including Abdus Shakoor, Vice President of Alkhidmat Foundation Pakistan; Tahir Ali MP; Waqas Anjum Jafri, Secretary General of Alkhidmat Foundation Pakistan; Dr. Adeel Riaz, Chairman of Aghosh UK; Retired Commodore Mohsin Aziz, Head of the Orphans Project – AJK; along with Muhammad Ghalib, Abid Husain, and Fahim Kayani of Aghosh UK.

Abid Khawajah, CEO of Aghosh UK, warmly welcomed the guests and emphasised that the new office is not merely an expansion of space—but it represents an even deeper commitment to humanity, to serving those in need, and to support people to get access to the essentials of life. “This is a centre of hope, compassion, and action,” he said. “It will enable us to better serve those who need us the most—especially orphans and families living through crisis.”

Dr. Adeel Riaz, Chairman of Aghosh UK, presented the Aghosh UK 2024 Impact Report, which highlights the organisation’s tireless humanitarian efforts. The report showcased key achievements in orphan sponsorship, education, WASH (Water, Sanitation, and Hygiene), and healthcare support—made possible through the generosity of donors and the dedication of volunteers.

Dr. Riaz gave special attention to Aghosh UK’s work in Gaza, where the organisation—through partnerships with global relief agencies—has provided critical aid to the people of Gaza. He spoke movingly about the recent rehabilitation of the Hurriyah Clinic, which will serve thousands of patients in the besieged region.

“This is not just aid,” Dr. Riaz said. “It’s dignity, healing, and the restoration of hope in places the world too often forgets.”

He also briefed guests on the comprehensive work of Alkhidmat Foundation Pakistan, which operates across eight humanitarian sectors—from clean water and education to disaster relief and orphan care—positively impacting millions of lives across Pakistan.

The event was more than just an office inauguration; it was a call to compassion. Speakers and attendees shared a collective message: that every child deserves care, every family deserves dignity, and every life matters—regardless of borders.

As crises continue to unfold across the globe, Aghosh UK aims to serve as a bridge between compassion and action. With its newly inaugurated office in Birmingham, Aghosh UK is ready to deepen and increase its work, expand its outreach, and bring hope to even more communities in need.

Floods in Pakistan 2025 – Ongoing Emergency Situation

At least 1,580 healthcare workers have been killed serving their communities in Gaza. Behind every fallen doctor, nurse, and paramedic is a bereaved family struggling to survive. This is how we can help.

Pakistan is once again battling the consequences of extreme monsoon rains in 2025.

Entire villages lie submerged, families have lost their homes and livelihoods, and roads, crops and homes lie in ruin.

Climate change has made once-rare catastrophes an all too regular nightmare.

Extreme Rains Cause a State of Flood Emergency in Pakistan

As monsoon rains swept across Pakistan once again, the country finds itself in the grip of another severe floods emergency. From the valleys of Swat and the mountains of Gilgit-Baltistan to the urban centres of Punjab and Sindh, communities have been devastated by flash floods, riverine overflows, and infrastructure collapse.

Between 26 June and 20 July 2025 alone, over 216 lives were lost, including more than 100 children. At least 582 people were injured, and nearly 800 homes were damaged or destroyed. Livestock, roads, and bridges were also severely impacted, compounding the already-dire humanitarian situation.

This is not just another flood. It is part of a recurring cycle of disasters in Pakistan—fueled by climate change, poor infrastructure, and limited preparedness resources.

The international community continues to raise alarms, but the need on the ground is immediate, overwhelming, and urgent.

Aghosh UK Alkhidmat workers are rescuing strander men in flood

Pakistan is ‘one of the world’s most vulnerable countries to climate change. Pakistan is responsible for only 0.5% of global greenhouse gas emissions, but its people are 15 times more likely to perish from climate-related disasters.

Aghosh UK - Alkhidmat's Rapid Humanitarian Response to Floods in Pakistan

Aghosh UK – Alkhidmat Foundation operates one of the largest and most organised Disaster Management Units in Pakistan. We have trained volunteers in every province, pre-positioned relief stocks, mobile clinics and coordination hubs to ensure a swift and effective response to emergencies.

Our trained emergency response teams have been activated across flood-hit regions. We monitor the situation closely and are ready to respond.

Our efforts include:

  • Search & rescue operations
  • Medical camps & mobile health clinics
  • 40 tents and 20 tarpaulin sheets distributed to displaced families
  • 1,000 hot meals Cooked food in Punjab
  • Clean water supply & water pumps
  • Trauma care & distribution of hygiene kits
  • 157 trained volunteers deployed across KP, Punjab, AJK, and GB
  • 50 food packages provided to families in remote areas of Gilgit-Baltistan.
  • Emergency rescue operations conducted in 12 locations, especially in KP and AJK.

“Every flood we face is a reminder that relief today must be paired with resilience for tomorrow,” says a senior representative from Alkhidmat Foundation Pakistan.

Why is Pakistan so vulnerable to Deadly Flooding?

The reason is complex combination of climate change, poor infrastructure and policy gaps which results in deadly flooding almost every year.

  • Unpredictable and extreme weather conditions: several weeks of rainfall can fall suddenly in a few hours
  • Melting glaciers in the north: unprecedented high temperatures in the north of the country cause rapid melting of glaciers. This results in sudden Glacial Lake Outburst Floods (GLOfs)  which devastate villages and farmlands
  • Urbanisation with insufficient planning: cities have rapidly expanded without sufficient drainage infrastructure, and many homes are illegally constructed in flood-prone areas
  • Deforestation & poor land use: illegal land practices have stripped flood-prone areas of natural defences

Areas Affected by Flooding in Pakistan 2025

The monsoon season typically lasts from June to September in Pakistan. Districts affected so far include:

  1. Chakwal
  2. Islamabad
  3. Rawalpindi
  4. Jhelum
  5. Lahore

Mountainous regions of KP including Charsadda, Nowshere and Peshawer have also reported overflowing rivers and landslides.

Chakwal
One of the worst hit, with 400mm of rain in just 10 hours. Flash floods overwhelmed communities. Alkhidmat distributed food parcels, hygiene kits, and provided support to over 300 families.

Rawalpindi
Heavy rains and poor drainage led to urban flooding. Sawan River overflowed, triggering alerts and helicopter assisted rescues. Alkhidmat set up relief camps and water pumps in collaboration with local bodies.

Islamabad
As the capital received 200+ mm rain, parts of the city went under water. Alkhidmat mobilized emergency relief units and participated in rescue and evacuation efforts, especially in vulnerable areas.

Jhelum
With over 150+ households affected, mobile medical camps were set up. Families received cooked meals and medical aid. Livestock losses also prompted veterinary support in some areas.

Other Affected Areas
Evacuations supported by the Army took place in Lahore, Faisalabad, and Chakri. 57+ people were rescued, and emergency alerts remain active in several zones.

From Floods in 2022 to 2025: Lessons Learned, Lives Saved

During the 2022 floods in Pakistan, Aghosh UK – Alkhidmat Foundation delivered one of the largest volunteer-led relief operations in the country. They built homes, distributed food and hygiene kits, deployed mobile medical camps, and rebuilt schools and mosques in flood-hit areas. This hard-earned experience enabled a faster and more structured response to the 2025 disaster.

With every flood, the need for better preparedness becomes more urgent—and it is clear that local organizations like Alkhidmat play a critical role in saving lives and restoring dignity.

Rising Hope Camp in Gaza: Aghosh UK’s Lifesaving Response

At least 1,580 healthcare workers have been killed serving their communities in Gaza. Behind every fallen doctor, nurse, and paramedic is a bereaved family struggling to survive. This is how we can help.

1. Gaza in Crisis: A Humanitarian Catastrophe

Gaza today is a humanitarian catastrophe. Months of sustained conflict have displaced hundreds of thousands. Homes have turned to rubble, and basic services like clean water, electricity, and medical care have nearly vanished. Children go to bed hungry. Women and the elderly suffer in silence. Amidst this chaos, families are living in makeshift shelters—if they’re lucky. Many have nothing at all.

The international community continues to raise alarms, but the need on the ground is immediate, overwhelming, and urgent.

2. Aghosh UK Steps In: Launching Hope Camp 5

Amid this devastation, Aghosh UK, in collaboration with Action for Humanity (AFH) and AFH Palestine, took bold action. In December 2024, we broke ground on a new humanitarian project in Deir Al Balah—one of Gaza’s most affected areas.

Over the course of four months, Hope Camp 5 was developed to provide essential shelter and services for families displaced by the ongoing conflict. What started as an initiative to serve 56 families quickly expanded to support 63 families due to growing needs.

3. A Shelter of Safety and Dignity

Hope Camp 5 covers an area of 5,600 square meters. It is not just a tent camp—it’s a safe zone built with intention, care, and community input.

Key shelter features include:

  • 56 high-quality emergency tents for displaced families
  • Site fencing for safety and privacy
  • Interlock paving for cleaner, walkable surfaces
  • A prayer room, communal kitchen, and administration unit to support everyday life

This is a place where families can start to rebuild—not just physically, but emotionally.

4. Water, Sanitation & Hygiene (WASH): Meeting Basic Needs

Access to clean water and sanitation in Gaza is a major challenge. At Hope Camp 5, we addressed this with:

  • 320 meters of water piping
  • 5 large water tanks (2,000L & 1,000L capacity)
  • 11 wash basins and 11 triple-toilet units
  • 22 soak pits for waste management

A safe water and sanitation system is critical for preventing disease outbreaks and restoring dignity.

5. Education Amidst Conflict: A Place to Learn

In a region where war has robbed children of classrooms, Hope Camp 5 provides 4 fully equipped school rooms. Each includes:

  • Desks and chairs for 60 students
  • Whiteboards and teaching materials
  • Furniture for teachers and staff

The children of Gaza deserve more than survival—they deserve an education. And we’re giving them that chance.

6. Health Services On Site: Healing and Hope

Our on-site medical clinic ensures families have access to basic healthcare. It includes:

  • Two consultation rooms
  • One pharmacy unit
  • Basic equipment and trained personnel provided by our implementing partner

In a place where hospitals are overstretched or destroyed, even a small clinic can save lives.

7. Community Voices and Local Empowerment

From day one, Aghosh UK used a participatory approach. We listened. We adjusted. When families raised concerns about sanitation units being too close to homes, we changed the design immediately.

Additionally, local families were enlisted to guard and maintain camp infrastructure, helping build a sense of ownership and security. This not only reduced theft or vandalism but also strengthened the camp’s long-term sustainability.

As one father told us in the field: “This is not just a camp. It is our home now. And we will protect it.”

8. What’s Next — And How You Can Help

Hope Camp 5 is a lifeline. But it’s only the beginning. The crisis in Gaza continues, and more families are in desperate need of support.

With your help, Aghosh UK plans to:

  • Expand existing camp services
  • Launch new camps in high-need zones
  • Provide mental health and trauma support
  • Build long-term solutions for displaced families

Frequently Asked Questions (FAQs)

Where exactly is Hope Camp 5 located, and why was this location chosen?

Hope Camp 5 is located in Deir Al Balah, a central region of the Gaza Strip. This area was strategically selected due to the high concentration of displaced families, its relative safety compared to border zones, and the availability of land that could be leased for humanitarian use. It also allowed for easier coordination with local implementing partners like AFH Palestine and access to vulnerable communities needing urgent shelter.

How many people are currently being supported at Hope Camp 5?

As of April 2025, 63 displaced families are being supported at Hope Camp 5. This includes:

  • 63 women
  • 47 men
  • 95 girls
  • 98 boys

That’s a total of 303 individuals, many of whom lost their homes, sources of income, or family members due to ongoing violence and instability. Some are elderly, disabled, or suffer from chronic health conditions.

What are the main facilities available in the camp?

Hope Camp 5 provides comprehensive infrastructure and services that go beyond basic shelter:

  • Shelter: 56 emergency tents (designed for durability and privacy)
  • Water and Sanitation: Water tanks, piping, 11 triple-toilet units, stainless steel wash basins, and wastewater soak pits
  • Education: 4 classrooms with 60 desks, 4 whiteboards, and furniture for teachers
  • Healthcare: An on-site medical clinic with 2 doctor’s rooms and 1 pharmacy
  • Public Services: A prayer room, communal kitchen, and administration room
  • Safety: Perimeter fencing and controlled entry via a secure main gate

How are families selected to receive shelter and aid in the camp?

Selection is based on clearly defined humanitarian criteria, including:

  • Families who have lost homes due to airstrikes or conflict
  • Families with no access to income or alternative shelter
  • Households with children, elderly, disabled, or injured members
  • Female-headed households, especially those who lost spouses in the war

Selection was carried out in coordination with community leaders and partner organizations to ensure transparency and fairness.

How has the local community been involved in this project?

Aghosh UK and AFH Palestine followed a participatory approach, actively involving local residents in:

  • Planning input (e.g., community concerns about sanitation led to relocating toilet units)
  • Guarding and securing the camp’s infrastructure
  • Camp maintenance and cleanliness

This engagement not only improved the quality and acceptance of the project but also fostered a sense of ownership, helping to prevent theft or vandalism and increasing sustainability.

What makes Hope Camp 5 different from a typical refugee tent camp?

Unlike temporary emergency setups, Hope Camp 5 integrates:

  • Durable infrastructure (water, sanitation, health, and education)
  • Community-based design changes based on feedback
  • Structured layout and services to mimic a functioning micro-village
  • On-site facilities like schools and clinics that reduce reliance on overwhelmed external systems

This model bridges the gap between emergency response and longer-term stability.

How is Aghosh UK ensuring transparency and accountability in this project?

Accountability measures include:

  • Regular updates to donors and stakeholders
  • Internal financial reporting and audits
  • Field-based beneficiary feedback mechanisms
  • Engineering inspections for all materials (e.g., tents were rejected until they met proper specs)

When families raised concerns—such as the placement of sanitation units—those concerns were acted upon immediately, demonstrating Aghosh UK’s commitment to responsible and responsive aid.

Is Hope Camp 5 a permanent solution?

No, it is an emergency shelter camp intended for medium-term relief, designed to last at least one year with regular maintenance. However, because it includes key services like water, education, and health care, it provides a much more stable and humane environment than traditional tent cities.

Future planning includes either upgrading existing facilities or relocating families to more permanent housing, depending on the evolving security and political situation.

How can individuals or organizations support this effort?

You can support in several impactful ways:

  • Donate directly via aghoshuk.org — even small amounts help fund tents, classrooms, and medical kits.
  • Sponsor a shelter or school unit (e.g., fund a family tent or classroom for displaced children)
  • Share our stories and video content on social media to spread awareness
  • Partner with us if you’re a business, NGO, or faith-based organization looking to contribute services or funds

Every act of generosity expands the reach and longevity of projects like Hope Camp 5.

Will Aghosh UK expand efforts beyond Hope Camp 5?

Yes. Due to the overwhelming demand and successful implementation of Hope Camp 5, Aghosh UK is planning future camps and long-term recovery projects in Gaza. These will include:

  • Trauma support services for children and families
  • Expansion of educational and vocational programs
  • Mobile health services for remote areas
  • Infrastructure for more permanent settlements

Muharram Water Appeal: Quench Thirst in Honour of Karbala

At least 1,580 healthcare workers have been killed serving their communities in Gaza. Behind every fallen doctor, nurse, and paramedic is a bereaved family struggling to survive. This is how we can help.

The Sacred Month of Muharram

Muharram is a month of deep reverence, reflection, and remembrance. It marks the beginning of the Islamic calendar and carries immense spiritual significance. Central to Muharram is the powerful legacy of Imam Hussain (RA) and the tragedy of Karbala, where he and his companions were deprived of water for days before their martyrdom.

This profound sacrifice, especially their suffering from thirst, continues to inspire acts of compassion and justice. Today, you can honour Karbala’s legacy by providing clean water to those who need it most.

The Reality Today: Thirst Still Kills

While Karbala is a chapter in history, the pain of thirst remains very real.

  • In Gaza, Pakistan, Yemen, Somalia, and many impoverished regions, clean water is a luxury — not a guarantee.
  • 1 in 3 people globally lack access to safe drinking water
  • Children under 5 are most vulnerable to water-borne diseases
  • Conflicts and climate change have worsened water shortages in crisis zones

Give Water in Honour of Imam Hussain (RA)

“The best charity is giving water to drink.”
– Prophet Muhammad ﷺ (Ahmad, Ibn Majah)

Water is one of the most beloved forms of charity in Islam. In this sacred month, your gift of water can serve as sadaqah jariyah (ongoing charity) — bringing blessings for generations.

Aghosh UK & Alkhidmat: Water Projects that Transform Lives

🌟 Emergency Water Relief in Gaza
During Ramadan and Muharram, 10,000+ litres of bottled water were distributed to families displaced by bombing and water shortages.

“When no one came, Aghosh UK delivered water to our tent. My children had not seen clean water in days.” – Gaza resident

🌟 Hand Pumps in Balochistan & Sindh
Over 200 hand pumps were installed, empowering families to grow food, maintain hygiene, and live with dignity.

🌟 Sustainable Water Solutions
Through the Alkhidmat WASH Program, advanced submersible wells, solar water solutions, and filtration systems are helping entire villages break free from waterborne diseases.

Why Now? Why Muharram?

Charity in Muharram, especially on the 9th and 10th, holds immense reward. By giving water during these sacred days, you:
✅ Honour the sacrifice of Karbala
✅ Earn multiplied spiritual rewards
✅ Provide life-saving relief to the world’s most vulnerable

The Religious & Practical Aspects of Giving Your Qurbani with Aghosh UK

At least 1,580 healthcare workers have been killed serving their communities in Gaza. Behind every fallen doctor, nurse, and paramedic is a bereaved family struggling to survive. This is how we can help.

Qurbani (or Udhiya) is a powerful symbol of devotion, sacrifice, charity, and gratitude in Islam. It is a time for Muslims to come together, share their blessings, and remember the trials and sacrifices of Prophet Ibrahim. Through the religious ritual of Qurbani, they renew their commitment to Allah and express their willingness to live in accordance with His will, while also looking after the welfare of others in their community and also in the ummah at large.

The Qurbani sacrifice is an act of worship that is obligatory or highly recommended depending on which school of Islamic law (madhab) you follow. It is a reminder of the importance of putting God’s commands above personal desires and preferences. After the sacrifice, the meat is often divided into three parts: one-third is given to the needy, one-third is shared with relatives and friends, and the remaining third is kept by the person performing the sacrifice. This aspect of Qurbani highlights the significance of sharing blessings with others and supporting those in need, especially during Eid.

Many charities distribute Qurbani to war-torn regions, refugee camps, and famine-affected areas, where meat is rarely consumed due to poverty. Qurbani honors the legacy of Prophet Ibrahim (AS), symbolizing devotion, sacrifice, and empathy for the less fortunate.
This year, Aghosh UK will distribute Qurbani to widows, orphans and the poor and destitute in Pakistan and also to Palestinian refugees in Egypt, Jordan and Lebanon. Our teams are also preparing Qurbani in Cairo which is intended for Gaza, ‘the most hungry place on earth’, due to weeks of blockades on aid.

Understanding Qurbani: Why It’s More Than Just an Animal Sacrifice

Qurbani follows the Spirit of Sacrifice

The tradition honors Prophet Ibrahim’s willingness to sacrifice his son, demonstrating submission to God’s will. This act of sacrifice serves as a metaphor for giving up personal desires and comforts for the sake of others, fostering a deeper sense of empathy.

Qurbani Teaches Us About Giving from the Heart & Raises Awareness of Poverty & Hunger

The distribution of fresh meat – especially to those who seldom have access to it – highlights the stark economic inequalities in society. This act of sharing Qurbani meat reminds the donor of the daily struggles of the less fortunate, making them more mindful and motivated to support those in need throughout the year, not just during Eid.

Many organisations source animals locally, supporting local farmers and butchers, creating jobs and employment which boosts local economies and ensures sustainability.

Qurbani Teaches Us About Sharing, Humility & Gratitude

When we give our Qurbani, we are reminded of our blessings, many of which we take for granted, and the basic needs that others may lack. This can inspire a deeper sense of gratitude for one’s own blessings and encourage continued charitable acts.

How Qurbani for Eid 2025 impacts lives

Aghosh UK’s Qurbani donations help alleviate hunger and food insecurity in vulnerable communities & bring relief and hope on Eid

Qurbani donations play a crucial role in alleviating hunger and food insecurity in vulnerable communities, especially in 2025 when global economic instability, conflicts, and climate change continue to exacerbate poverty and food scarcity. Here’s how these donations make a tangible impact:

Immediate Nutritional Support

Qurbani meat, often one of the only sources of protein for recipients, is distributed to families who rarely afford it. Meat provides essential nutrients like protein, iron, and vitamins that help combat malnutrition, particularly among children and pregnant women.

Prioritising some of the most vulnerable beneficiaries

Our distributions often focus on the most food-insecure populations—refugees, internally displaced people, orphans, widows, and families living below the poverty line.

Rural and Conflict Zones: NGOs and humanitarian agencies prioritize hard-to-reach areas where state support and food markets are limited or non-existent.

Provision of Meat: The primary impact of the Qurbani program is the distribution of meat to the poor and needy, and displaced people. This allows families who cannot afford meat to have access to it, particularly during Eid al-Adha, a time when Muslims traditionally sacrifice animals as an act of worship and charity.

Eid Celebrations: Many families in underprivileged communities might not have the means to celebrate Eid properly. Receiving Qurbani meat ensures they can partake in the communal joy of the festival, fostering a sense of inclusion and dignity.

The Impact of Qurbani on Local Farmers and Livestock Sellers

Boosting Local Economies

Livestock Sourcing: Animals are often purchased locally, injecting cash into the economies of rural farmers and herders.

Temporary Employment: Slaughtering, packing, and distribution activities create short-term job opportunities during Eid al-Adha.

By purchasing animals locally, Aghosh UK teams can boost rural economies and support livestock farmers, especially in flood or drought-affected regions. In some regions, Aghosh UK may involve local community members in the process of Qurbani, such as butchering and packaging, which provides them with temporary employment opportunities, thus contributing to the local economy.

How Qurbani Helps Us Feel Closer to Others

Strengthening Community Solidarity

Faith-Based Giving: Qurbani promotes a culture of sharing, empathy, and collective responsibility within the global Muslim community. Global Distribution Networks: In 2025, with better logistics and technology, organisations can efficiently channel donations from affluent regions to underdeveloped areas. Through the large-scale distribution efforts, Aghosh UK promotes a sense of community where individuals from different socio-economic backgrounds are encouraged to participate in collective acts of kindness.

Turning Qurbani Into a Gift That Lasts Beyond Eid

Complementing Long-Term Aid Initiatives & Food Programmes

Bridging Gaps: Qurbani serves as a critical seasonal supplement to year-round food programs, especially in areas with seasonal food shortages.

Data Collection & Outreach: It offers NGOs a chance to assess needs on the ground, improve targeting, and build databases for long-term support planning.

The Aghosh UK Qurbani (sacrifice) programme aims to provide meat to underprivileged communities, helping alleviate hunger and poverty. Aghosh UK partners with Alkhidmat Foundation Pakistan, which operates across Pakistan and also has a significant presence internationally. The foundation typically arranges Qurbani activities in urban and rural areas alike, focusing on both remote regions and densely populated cities.

Sustainable Community Development beyond Eid

While the immediate goal of Qurbani is to provide food relief, this program is integrated with broader welfare efforts such as nutrition programs, health services, education, and livelihood support. This helps to ensure that the benefits of Qurbani are not just short-term, but also contribute to sustainable improvement in the lives of disadvantaged communities.

100% Sharia Compliant & High Welfare Standards for Qurbani Animals

Religious and Ethical Impact

The Aghosh UK Qurbani programme operates to the high standards befitting of an act of worship that is a religious obligation for Muslims.

Our Qurbani service is 100% sharia compliant, and animals are nurtured and treated with kindness and care in line with Islamic teachings. Only healthy animals of the correct age and without defects are selected for Qurbani; sacrifices are conducted in a humane and ethical manner.

Aghosh UK emphasises that the spiritual significance of Qurbani also aligns with the values of charity, selflessness, and the ethical treatment of animals.

Volunteer and Donor Engagement

The Qurbani program fosters a sense of involvement and connection among local volunteers and international donors. Thousands of people support the Qurbani appeal by either donating funds for Qurbani or volunteering to help with distribution and logistics. This engagement further strengthens the network of charitable work and fosters a spirit of collective effort toward societal welfare.

Operational Scale and Coverage

Large Reach: Aghosh UK partners with Alkhidmat Foundation Pakistan to deliver Qurbani across remote and rural areas of Pakistan as well as densely populated cities.

Logistical Efficiency: In 2025, in some regions, security concerns or political instability can complicate the logistical aspects of distributing Qurbani meat. However, Aghosh UK’s strong relationships with local authorities and local partners and teams often help navigate such issues. Aghosh UK builds on its previous years’ experiences to enhance operational efficiency, ensuring timely distribution to beneficiaries across various locations. This includes arrangements for slaughter, transportation, and distribution, ensuring that there are minimal delays and that the meat reaches its destination while still fresh.

Aghosh UK Qurbani Impacts 2024

There are millions of underprivileged families in Pakistan who only get a chance to eat meat during Eid-ul-Adha.

In 2024, thanks to the generous support of donors, Aghosh UK delivered Qurbani to 151,047 beneficiaries in Pakistan, and 71,773 beneficiaries in Palestine, including many widows, orphans, the elderly and displaced families.

Aghosh UK’s Digital Platforms for Donations and Coordination Strategy

In a connected, digital world, Aghosh UK uses block-chain based Qurbani platforms to ensure transparency and traceability of donations from selection of a healthy animal to slaughter to distribution. Aghosh UK provides individual Qurbani reports to donors for any Qurbanis that are performed in Pakistan (donor emails are required).

Our local teams and partners use cold-chain logistics to maintain meat quality and safety during transportation to remote areas.

Aghosh UK also rapidly adjusts its operational processes depending on need: for example, in Gaza in 2024 a very flexible approach was required to deliver Qurbani to those in need due to the extremely volatile political situation.

In 2025, the situation in Gaza is more challenging than ever, so Aghosh UK has planned accordingly: if borders open then we will deliver fresh Qurbani meat to as many people as we can in Gaza, and if blockades remain, then our teams will prepare Qurbani meat into ready-to-eat pouches and cans which will be delivered to Gaza at the earliest opportunity.

Aghosh UK will also deliver Qurbani to the many thousands of Palestinian refugees in Egypt, Jordan and Lebanon.

In 2025, Qurbani (or Udhiyah) donations continue to offer a powerful opportunity to make a meaningful difference in the lives of those in need, especially during Eid al-Adha. At least 1,580 healthcare workers have been killed serving their communities in Gaza. Behind every fallen doctor, nurse, and paramedic is a bereaved family struggling to survive. This is how we can help.

Sacrifice for Allah. Meat for the Needy.

As Eid al-Adha 2025 (1446 AH) draws near, Aghosh UK urgently appeals for your support in providing Qurbani to displaced families in the conflict-hit Line of Control (LOC) region of Azad Jammu & Kashmir. This year, your Qurbani isn’t just a sacred ritual—it is urgent humanitarian relief for thousands who have lost everything due to ongoing violence and border unrest.

Sacrifice for Allah. Meat for the Needy. Why Qurbani Matters—Now More Than Ever

Qurbani, or Udhiyah, commemorates the obedience of Prophet Ibrahim (AS) and is an essential act of devotion for Muslims worldwide. But in the devastated regions of Azad Jammu & Kashmir, Qurbani represents much more:
Recent escalations in border tensions have uprooted entire communities. Families live in makeshift shelters, with homes destroyed, livelihoods vanished, and access to food critically limited. For many, fresh meat is a luxury they haven’t tasted in months.

The Transformative Power of Zakat: Supporting Orphans in Gaza

At least 1,580 healthcare workers have been killed serving their communities in Gaza. Behind every fallen doctor, nurse, and paramedic is a bereaved family struggling to survive. This is how we can help.

Giving Hope to Orphans in Gaza: The Importance of Zakat for Orphan

““Myself and the caretaker of an orphan will be in Paradise like this,” and he held his two fingers together. Prophet Muhammad PBUH

In the heart of Gaza, thousands of children face daily hardships, having lost one or both parents due to ongoing conflicts and socio-economic challenges. These orphans are among the most vulnerable, lacking access to basic necessities such as food, education, and healthcare. Islamic teachings emphasize the importance of supporting orphans, and Zakat—one of the five pillars of Islam—serves as a powerful tool to uplift these young lives.
We are here to address common questions regarding Zakat and our Orphan Program that how you can trust Aghosh UK with your  Zakat & Sadaqah donations.

Understanding Zakat and Its Significance

What Is Zakat?

Zakat is an obligatory form of almsgiving, requiring Muslims to donate a specific portion of their wealth to those in need. It purifies one’s wealth and soul, fostering empathy and social responsibility. The Quran explicitly mentions orphans as rightful recipients of Zakat, underscoring the duty to protect and nurture them.

Who Must Pay Zakat?

Zakat is obligatory for every Muslim who:
– Possesses wealth above the Nisab threshold (the minimum amount required for Zakat to be due).
– Has owned this wealth for one lunar year.
– Meets the criteria of financial stability and capability.

Who Can Receive Zakat?

Zakat can be distributed to the following categories outlined in the Quran (9:60):

  • The poor (al-fuqara).
  • The needy (al-masakin).
  • Those employed to administer Zakat.
  • Those whose hearts need reconciliation and new Muslims.
  • Those in servitude/bondage to others (riqab).
  • Those in debt.
  • Those in the cause of Allah.
  • Travellers in need.

10 Ways to Maximize the Last 10 Nights of Ramadan

At least 1,580 healthcare workers have been killed serving their communities in Gaza. Behind every fallen doctor, nurse, and paramedic is a bereaved family struggling to survive. This is how we can help.

As the first of the last 10 nights of Ramadan 2025 begins this Thursday, may Allah (SWT) allow us to witness and benefit from these blessed nights. With the upcoming fundraiser keeping us busy tomorrow, I wanted to take a few moments tonight to share a quick refresher—10 key ways we can make the most of the next 10 nights.

Some of these tips may be familiar, while others might be overlooked in previous years. For those experiencing Ramadan for the first time, I pray that these suggestions serve as a source of benefit.

1. Avoid the Sins of the Day

One of the most underestimated ways to maximize the last 10 nights is to avoid sins during the day. If you disobey Allah (SWT) during the day, it can hinder your ability to engage in worship at night. The doors of the heavens open for those who seek Allah’s mercy, but sin can close those doors. Be especially mindful of your actions during the day, as you do not want to enter the night carrying sins that may displease Allah.

2. Avoid Idle Conversations at Night

During the day, we naturally have responsibilities—work, socializing, and family duties. However, the nights of the last 10 days should be dedicated to worship. Many blessings are lost due to excessive social interactions at night, leading to gossip or backbiting. If you haven’t had your iftar gatherings yet, consider avoiding them in the last 10 nights. Instead, prioritize gatherings that involve remembering Allah (SWT) and avoid unnecessary conversations that distract from worship.

5. Increase Your Recitation of the Quran

The last 10 nights are a time to immerse ourselves in the Quran. The righteous predecessors would increase their recitation significantly during these nights. If you had a Quran goal for Ramadan, aim to surpass it. If you were reading a juz‘ a day, push yourself to read more at night. The first word revealed on Laylatul Qadr was “Read” (Iqra), emphasizing the importance of Quran recitation on these nights.

6. Recite the Special Dua for Laylatul Qadr

Aisha (RA) asked the Prophet Muhammad (PBUH) what to recite if she encountered Laylatul Qadr. He taught her this dua:
“Allahumma innaka ‘afuwwun tuhibbul-‘afwa fa‘fu ‘anni”
(O Allah, You are the Most Forgiving, and You love to forgive, so forgive me.)
Recite this dua frequently throughout the night, at the beginning, middle, and end of your prayers.

7. Make Dua Even While in Motion

Treat every moment of these nights as an opportunity for dua. Whether you are walking, driving, or waiting in line, keep your tongue engaged in remembrance of Allah. Just like during Hajj, where every second is valuable, approach these nights with the same mindset—maximize every moment with dua.

8. Increase Your Prostration (Sujood)

The closest a person comes to Allah is in sujood. The best part of the night prayer is the sujood, so lengthen your prostrations and pour your heart out in dua. The Quran tells us, “Prostrate and draw near [to Allah]” (Surah Al-‘Alaq, 96:19). Take your duas into your sujood and stay in that state for as long as possible.

9. Give in Charity Every Night

While there is no specific hadith stating that the Prophet (PBUH) gave more charity in the last 10 nights than the rest of Ramadan, we know that he was the most generous in Ramadan. Charity has two key effects:

  1. It increases your wealth and blessings.
  2. It extinguishes the anger of Allah.

Launch My Ten Nights Daily Giving

On a night when we seek Allah’s forgiveness and increase in rewards, what better action than charity? If possible, automate your donations to ensure you give every night of the last 10 nights, so you don’t miss Laylatul Qadr.

10. Spend the Last Few Moments Before Fajr in Seeking Forgiveness

Allah (SWT) describes the righteous as those who seek forgiveness in the last moments of the night. Many people stay busy with suhoor and conversation until Fajr, missing out on the crucial last moments of dua. In those last 5-10 minutes before Fajr, sincerely ask Allah for forgiveness and acceptance of your worship. It could be that one dua in those final moments secures you a lifetime of rewards.

Final Thoughts

Oh Allah, allow us to observe Laylatul Qadr. Oh Allah, allow us to observe Laylatul Qadr. Oh Allah, allow us to observe Laylatul Qadr.

These last 10 nights are a special time for our community—a time of immense blessings, mercy, and tranquility. Let us dedicate ourselves to worship, maximize every moment, and seek Allah’s forgiveness sincerely.

May Allah (SWT) accept our deeds, bless our efforts, and allow us to witness and benefit from Laylatul Qadr. Ameen.
