An Unyielding Spirit in Gaza
Jud Abdullah Mahmoud Al-Siqili is an 11-year-old girl from Khan Younis, Gaza, whose childhood has been profoundly affected by loss, displacement, and difficult living conditions. Despite the immense challenges she has faced, Jud continues to pursue her education, nurture her creativity, and hold onto her dreams for a better future.
Jud's father, Abdullah Mahmoud Al-Siqili, was a dedicated teacher and an indispensable source of love, protection, and strength for his family. On 30 May 2024, he was martyred in a market in Rafah while obtaining essential supplies for his family.
"Losing him meant losing not only her beloved father, but also the person who provided her with emotional support, encouragement, and daily artistic inspiration."
A Special Bond With Her Father
Jud shared a remarkably close and loving relationship with her father. She was the person closest to him and deeply cherished every moment they spent together. Her father was not only a source of protection, but also the primary inspiration behind Jud's passion for art.
Jud loved drawing for her father, often asking him for ideas and guidance. His constant encouragement gave her the confidence to develop her artistic talents. Today, drawing remains one of her favorite activities — through her artwork, she continues to honor his memory and keep that special creative connection alive.
